The search is ongoing to in Gainesville, as Florida is seeking its next athletic director after Jeremy Foley decided it was time to leave the school after his lengthy and extremely successful 25-year tenure as the school’s athletic department leader. Foley made the announcement this month but will continue to fill the role until October.

While several candidates exist within the school, it appears Florida is now set on hiring someone from outside the program, as explained by GatorBait.net:

“We’ve gotten a number of questions asking about internal interest in the job,” Senior Associate Athletics Director Steve McClain said. “Each of the internal people have made a decision not to pursue the athletic director position for their own individual reasons.”

At this time it is unknown which candidates the school may be considering but it appears it won’t be anyone current residing in the athletic department.
