New Orleans Saints fans and fantasy football owners everywhere were surprised by the news that Michael Thomas would not be playing in Week 5 of the NFL season. As word trickled out that Thomas being designated “out” was not related to his injury, fans became more curious about the situation. It is now being reported that Thomas got in an altercation with teammate Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, a former Florida defensive back.
“The altercation between Thomas and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson came at the end of practice,” Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football reported. “There was jawing back and forth and then Thomas hit him, leading to a fight. The decision to suspended Thomas came this morning.”
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reported that Thomas punched Gardner-Johnson. The Saints, minus Thomas, are scheduled to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night.
Gardner-Johnson has 23 total tackles and a pass breakup on the season for the Saints defense.
