The Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles have one of the most-intense rivalries in college football, and you know that sort of thing carries over into the NFL.

Therefore, when the Los Angeles Chargers brought in former Florida K Caleb Sturgis and former Florida State K Roberto Aguayo this offseason to compete for the starting job, you know it was personal for both players.

According to Field Yates, Sturgis won the competition, as the team has reportedly waived Aguayo following the final game of the preseason:

Sturgis has been in the NFL since 2013, so it’s no surprise the veteran won the job over Aguayo, who has had a rocky career since entering the league in 2016.

Chalk this up as a minor victory for the Gators in their heated rivalry with the Seminoles.
