The New Orleans Saints have had an improved defense so far this year, thanks in part to rookie LB Alex Anzalone.

The former Florida Gator was selected by the Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft and has impressed in limited action, recording 16 tackles and one sack.

However, Anzalone was injured during the Saints’ win over the Miami Dolphins in London on Sunday, and the news isn’t good.

According to Pro Football Talk, Anzalone injured his shoulder and has been placed on injured reserve. He will likely miss the rest of the season.

Considering Anzalone had two surgeries on his shoulders while at Florida, this isn’t good news for the promising rookie.

The Saints host the Detroit Lions this weekend, a game in which Anzalone’s presence would certainly help.
