Ever since Steve Spurrier retired as coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks back in 2015, there have been rumblings of him wanting to return to the sidelines.

Nothing has ever come of those rumors, but on Tuesday, Buddy Martin, the host of “The Buddy Martin Show,” said Spurrier may be intrigued by a new opportunity.

According to Martin, Spurrier told him he wants to learn more about the new professional football league that is reportedly starting — the Alliance of American Football:

Obviously, there’s a big gap between wanting to know more about the league and actually becoming a coach, but it could signal that Spurrier’s days as a coach aren’t over yet.

If he does return, it’ll be on his terms, but this new league could indeed be something that fits his current lifestyle.
