Looking to add playmakers for Jim McElwain’s offense, Florida picked up a junior college commitment from a player who fits the bill on Wednesday.

Mark Thompson, a native of Wyncote, Pa. currently attending Dodge City Community College in Kansas, gave his pledge to the Gators on Wednesday, according to a report from 247sports. Thompson will be a member of the Gators’ 2016 recruiting class. According to GatorCountry.com, Thompson will enroll at Florida in January.

In Thompson, the Gators get a running back with both size and speed. Thompson is listed at 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, while recruiting website Hudl.com lists his 40-yard dash time at a blazing 4.37 seconds.

Last fall at Dodge City C.C., Thompson ran for 460 yards at an average of 5.5 yards per carry, scoring eight touchdowns.

The Gators are up to 11 members in their 2016 class, and Thompson makes for the fourth offensive weapon they’ve added. Florida has commitments from two three-star receivers, Rick Wells and Isaiah Johnson, as well as three-star running back Tyrek Tisdale. Florida also added backs Jordan Scarlett and D’Anfernee McGriff with the 2015 class.
