Mike White’s staff is set.

Florida has announced the hiring of former assistant coach Akeem Miskdeen, finalizing White’s staff for 2021-22. Stadium’s Jeff Goodman and Gator Country’s Eric Fawcett reported Friday that UF was hiring the Florida Atlantic assistant. Like fellow recent assistant hire Erik Pastrana, Miskdeen coached under former Gator assistant Dusty May at FAU.

“We’re really excited about what Akeem will bring to the Florida program,” White said in a school release. “He has proven himself everywhere he’s been and will fit well with everyone here in our building. We’re really glad to have the opportunity to add him to our coaching staff.”

Miskdeen got his start in coaching as Hampton’s Director of Basketball Operations in 2008-09.  After stops at Division II schools Mount Olive College and Wingate University, Miskdeen returned to Hampton, serving multiple roles on staff from 2011-16. He was then an assistant at Kent State for 2016-18 and at FAU since.

“My family and I are ecstatic to join Coach White, his staff, the Gainesville community and Gator Nation,” Miskdeen said in the hiring announcement. “Being a part of Florida basketball is special, and I will take pride and work relentlessly to continue its success.”

Two UF assistant coaches left White’s staff this offseason. Jordan Mincy took the head coaching job at Jacksonville and Darris Nichols is now the head coach at Radford.
