Ricky Pearsall has had a unique beginning to his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers to say the least.

The former Florida Gator was notably shot in the chest during an attempted armed robbery right before the start of the regular season. The bullet went clean through his body, but he was able to be released from the hospital without needing surgery and returned to the field when the 49ers hosted the Chiefs last Sunday.

A San Francisco Police officer named Joelle Harrell attended to Pearsall’s wounds, one in the head and one in the chest, and helped get him to safety after he was shot.

ESPN did a segment on Pearsall and his family being able to meet the officer at the 49ers’ home-opener:

Pearsall was selected with the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft following a prolific career with the Gators. He is now expected to play a sizable role for the San Francisco receiver room, as Jauan Jennings is currently battling injuries and Deebo Samuel has been in and out of the lineup throughout the season.
