Florida freshman guard Scottie Lewis announces his plans for next season
Good news Gator fans, Scottie Lewis is coming back for another season in Gainesville.
The former five-star recruit averaged 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists for the Gators during his true freshman season in which he saw the court 30 times and made 22 starts for Mike White’s program.
The New Jersey native signed with Florida after participating in the McDonald’s All-American Game and a selection on the USA Basketball team at the Nike Hoop Summit.
Lewis released the following statement on Monday:
“Gator Nation, as you all know we have some unfinished business! Our season was cut short, and we were not able to complete our season that we were supposed to. My dream of playing in the NBA is still a top priority, but my heart is in Gainesville! With that being said, I am more than happy to announce that I will be returning for the 2020-21 season. I want to thank my teammates, my coaching staff and most importantly my family for their unconditional love and support throughout this entire process! I am excited for the journey that lies ahead. My story hasn’t even started and trust me THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”
The Gators now are waiting for decisions from Keyontae Johnson and Andrew Nembhard.
None of our players should leave. They haven’t shown the talent for NBA but have great potential if developed properly
They were a big disappointment this season but not sure if it was players dropping games or poor coaching. They let a lot of games get away in the 2nd half.
Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they all left. Maybe white could get a roster full of players with some fight in them.
All 3 should come back. Doubt they would go in 1st or 2nd round. Maybe they can be better next year because this season was an exhibition in hapless play.
