SEC baseball analyst David Dellucci has had LSU at the top of his rankings for much of the season. But after the recent skid for the Tigers, he has LSU dropping down entering the final week of the season.

In a segment on the SEC Network, Dellucci went with Florida as his top pick in the conference. The Gators were ranked No. 4 on the most recent poll from D1 Baseball, just behind Arkansas and ahead of LSU.

The depth of Florida’s offense was highlighted by Dellucci:

“They’ve got, what, 3 guys with 40 or more RBIs,” said Dellucci. “Remember last year, lost to Oklahoma in the regionals by 1 run, is on a great roll.”

As for LSU, Dellucci dropped the Tigers all the way to No. 4 in the SEC — behind Arkansas and Vanderbilt. The reason for the drop comes back to LSU’s pitching:

“They were my No. 1, guess why they dropped? They’ve got a pitching problem,” Dellucci explained. “Anybody not named Paul Skenes, you just don’t know what they’re gonna get out of them… That’s my concern. They can swing the bat, Tommy Tanks has 82 RBI, LSU has like 14 10-run rules this year. They’re gonna have to score a lot of runs until they can find a Game 2 and Game 3 starter.”
