Steve Spurrier predicts Urban Meyer's next job
Steve Spurrier expects Urban Meyer to return to the Sunshine State.
Spurrier recently appeared on Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi’s radio show. When the topic of Meyer being linked to the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching job was brought up, Spurrier shared that he expects his former rival to give the NFL a try.
“Yeah, I think he’s a little bit bored and he loves coaching … he’s been out two years now and he’s been getting the itch to come back and coach,” Spurrier said. “I think (the Jaguars owner) will name (Meyer) their coach. I think they’ve got a chance there with a lot of draft picks and all that stuff. He’s obviously an excellent coach. I think he will take it here within the next few days, just what we all hear. I think he’ll do well. I don’t know if he’ll be there 10 years, but I’ll give him five. Maybe he can win a Super Bowl within five years.”
The two former Florida head coaches have become friends since facing off in the SEC East from 2005-10. If Meyer wants some advice on trying the NFL after a successful college career, he could ask Spurrier, who coached in Washington for the 2002 and ’03 seasons. Meyer has been out of coaching after stepping down from Ohio State following the 2018 season.

I just want to know the name of Meyer’s heart Doctor. That man might come in handy one day. Some Doctors are good and apparently, some can produce miracles…
I want to know why is Spurrier wearing an Oklahoma jacket? Did he lose a bet?
Mostly likely a lost bet was the reason. Probably with Bob Stoops.
SDS photoshop special.
He’s wearing that shirt cause Stoops invited him out for the weekend when they were playing OSU in 2016. Spurrier Jr. was a director of high school recruiting and offensive specialist for OU.
It wasn’t his heart. He had an esophageal spasm. I had one too and even though I was an ex nurse and paramedic, I thought I was having a heart attack. It hurts like he!! and in just the place you would expect a heart attack to hurt. I don’t want another one.
But what about that medical condition? Did that just disappear?
It always mysteriously goes away and i can give you a few “million” reasons why
I’d be willing to wager that it comes back within 24 months if Meyer takes the job.
Meyer should be the jags next coach. With Lawrence he can get the jags winning
He will be grabbing his head and calling for his mama before too long.
Inasmuch as Dan Mullen continues to refuse to reaffirm his commitment to coaching the Florida Gators, there’s a team in Gainesville that needs a new coach.
