Steve Spurrier’s return to Florida was an eventful one.

The coach who brought the Gators to a national title and six SEC championships from 1990-2001 was hailed with cheers in the Swamp and even struck Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt’s signature pose.

Spurrier played the role of “Mr. Two Bits” for Florida’s season opener against Massachusetts on Saturday night, a part of his stint as the newly named ambassador and consultant to the Gators’ athletic department. The “Head Ball Coach” accepted the position in late July but made his first appearance in Gainesville as part of the Florida program in 15 years Saturday night.
