Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman, a wide receiver out of Independence Community College in Kansas, has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Bowman is a native of Minneapolis and had several FBS offers coming out of high school but went to prep school route at St. Thomas More in Connecticut and eventually was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 overall prep school prospect. He chose Florida over offers that include Illinois, Ole Miss and Nebraska. He has reportedly signed his papers and will be on scholarship immediately to play this fall.

“Just the coaching staff and everyone over there and the same with the school and all the support staff as well, they were a big part of it. It felt like home,” he said. “It was a great fit and they have great people there,” Chiaokhiao-Bowman told 247Sports.

The wide receiver added that he has 5 years to play 4.

“They need a guy with my skill set to come do big things, even play special teams,” he said. “They plan to move me around between slot and outside. They like my releases, separation at the top of the route, he said he can tell I have good ball skills, I look seasoned and I work hard.”
