Todd Grantham identifies 'biggest series' of Florida-Georgia game
When Georgia and Florida met for the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” in Jacksonville on Saturday, it looked as though we might have a shootout on our hands early on.
There certainly were a lot of points scored, but Florida pulled away late for the 44-28 victory.
Georgia had an early 14-0 lead before Florida started its run, and Gators defensive coordinator Todd Grantham pointed out what he thought was the biggest series of the game to prompt the turnaround.
Grantham identified the three-and-out by the Gators’ defense when it was a 14-7 game as the turning point.
“That to me is a testament to your character, your attitude, and your belief in what we’re doing,” Grantham told reporters, per Gator Country’s Nick de la Torre.
Florida’s defense only allowed one more score from that point and outscored Georgia 37-14 for the rest of the game.
Florida played a good game saturday, and they deserved to win that matchup. But I mean, Georgia wasn’t quite acting itself Saturday. Anyways, GO GATORS!!!
I always thought Grantham “complicated” Defense too much. Relied on NFL schemes and movement when in the college game, there is much more of a separation of talent week-to-week. Prepare your guys, let them go out there and “read and react”, play fast and it usually turns out well.
But let’s be honest..right now the offensive dumpster fire at UGA makes most Defenses look pretty good.
UGA will still beat most teams on roster talent alone.
True, but Jax Dawg is right. Georgia’s offense is not so good, and they make pretty much everyone’s defense look good.
Even the Gators’
The UGA offense had nothing to do with Kyle Trask torching your defense for nearly 500 yards passing and 4 TD passes. In fact, your offense had your team up 14 points before any of that happened. UGA’s defense was bewildered by the UF passing game when it was opening up and lightening it up during the first half. It got conservative in the second half for some reason. I guess to protect a big lead.
I get that Nature Gator, but it was the Georgia offense that lost the game. Although they didn’t get too many stops on Florida’s offense, no one really does, because it’s Florida’s offense! I’m not saying that your wrong, but it wasn’t the Bulldogs’s fault their defense didn’t look too good out there.
But when it comes to their offense, it pretty much was their fault.
Total BS clickbait special, Todd…

Any questions Todd?
Get a QB, Leghumper. You don’t have one, it appears. It also appears that your head coach doesn’t like elite ones very much. But you are correct, the UF defense continues to not execute called defenses well. The issue lies mostly with LBs getting out of their zones or failing to get into them. And three of the deep blown coverages were on a freshman nickelback, Johnson, who appears to be playing out of position. He looks more like a strong safety. He does not turn his hips quickly to run deep. A nickel must have that skill. UF has to figure out the nickel position and get Ventrell Miller off the field on passing downs. He is horrible in pass coverage. He repeatedly gets out of his zones in Zone coverages and that opens up wide holes in the defense, and he repeatedly takes the wrong path in one on one coverages or picks up the wrong guy, leaving someone else wide open (which was the case on both of the TEs running wide open for UGA). The defensive coaches are not coaching these guys up or getting the best guys on certain plays on the field. All this has to improve greatly if UF wants to win out and actually have a chance in championship games.
Both of y’all are right. Yes, the Bulldogs missed a bunch of easy opportunities that could of gave you a win, but it is because you don’t really have that much of a QB. Honestly, if you guys still had Jake Fromm, that probably would’ve been a win, but because your offensive line wasn’t looking too good, the Gators’s defense was able to easily stop them. Plus, with their good offense, the Gators easily pulled off a win.
G8RFan107’s Idea of a power ranking:
1. Alabama (obviously)
2. Florida
3. Texas A&M
4. Georgia
5. Arkansas
6. Missouri
7. Auburn
8. Kentucky
9. Ole Miss
10. Tennessee
11. South Carolina
12. LSU
13. MS State
14. Vanderbilt (obviously)
btw, nvm
So Leghumpers excuse for the Dawg’s offense is basically that none of those highly rated offensive recruits have been taught how to throw, catch, and run routes. Interesting.
I know right, it’s very interesting.
