University president responds to Dan Mullen's plea to pack The Swamp for LSU
It does not sound like Florida head coach Dan Mullen will get his wish for the LSU game.
On Saturday, the Gators went up against Texas A&M at Kyle Field. In a game that came down to the wire, the Aggies kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired.
After the game, Mullen went on to give a plea to Florida’s leadership to open up the swamp to full capacity with LSU coming to town, citing the A&M crowd as a difference-maker in the tough loss. To this point, Florida has had limited capacity but the state recently gave the green light for venues to be at full capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Though the state may have loosened venue restrictions, Florida President W. Kent Fuchs said the university plans to maintain the restrictions and crowd limitations currently in place on campus. Here is what Fuchs had to say:
UF remains fully and firmly committed to following CDC guidelines (https://t.co/xWvCfZxucp) for every part of our campus from classrooms to athletic venues as well as the guidance (https://t.co/NdKCumo9VZ) of our own experts at @UFHealth and local and state health officials.

these preventative measures remain the most effective ways to slow the spread of COVID-19. It is important that all members of the UF community and our campus visitors follow this guidance.
