The Florida Gators beat the Auburn Tigers 8-2 in Game 1 of the Gainesville super-regional on Saturday, and they did it behind a fantastic effort from RHP Brady Singer.

Singer, who was the No. 18 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, going to the Kansas City Royals, struggled early, giving up two runs in his first three innings, but ended up out-dueling No. 1 overall pick Casey Mize and the Tigers.

When Singer exited the game after 6.2 innings, Florida fans responded with an incredible ovation, saluting the star pitcher in what will be his last home start ever:

Singer’s effort gives Florida a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. The defending champion Gators will start another Royals’ draft pick on Sunday, when Jackson Kowar takes the mound.

If he has an effort like Singer’s, he’ll likely get an ovation of his own when he exits the game.
