In his first season at Florida, Dan Mullen has strived to revitalize fan support of the Gators.

Though UF teams have long counted a home-field advantage in The Swamp, the bond between the fan base and the football team has been strained in recent years. An “us against the world” mentality the team adopted in the early half of the decade, lack of offensive firepower (and exciting plays) and multiple losing seasons in the last six years have all factored into the increase of empty seats in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Throughout the season, Mullen called on fans to pack The Swamp for Florida’s home games, pointing out that it in addition to the home-field advantage, it also makes an impression on visiting recruits. It appears the coach is doing more to make the Gators appear more accessible and fan-friendly again. Last week, football players in full pads stopped by the basketball game going on in Exactech Arena and received the jumbotron treatment.

On Saturday, Florida’s second Peach Bowl practice was open for fans to attend. A video shot and shared by beat reporter Jacquie Franciulli of Gators Territory shows that players took time to thank the fans who came out to practice:
