Former Florida receiver Kadarius Toney is headed to play for the New York Giants.

He found out that news in an emotional phone call with the Giants on Thursday evening. Here’s a video of the call, released by the Giants on Saturday:

That phone call was presumably from Giants general manager Dave Gettleman, who traded back in the first round and picked up Toney.

Toney is coming off an outstanding senior season at Florida. He caught 70 passes for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Gators. He is a threat to catch the ball in a variety of different formations.

The Giants have a lot of talent on offense in 2021. In addition to Toney, the Giants have running back Saqon Barkley, receiver Kenny Golladay, receiver Darius Slayton, receiver Sterling Shepard and tight end Evan Engram.

It will be up to third-year quarterback Daniel Jones to make a substantial leap in 2021. If he does, Toney and the Giants could be in contention for the NFC East.
