What Dan Mullen said after Florida's blowout win over Vanderbilt
A year ago, Florida had a post-Cocktail Party hangover, falling to Missouri 38-17 at home a week after losing to Georgia in Jacksonville. That wasn’t the case this year. Dan Mullen’s squad got off to a slow start, but eventually cruised to a 56-0 win over Vanderbilt. After the shutout victory in the home conference finale, Mullen met with the reporters on hand at The Swamp.
Freshman play was a popular topic. Due to injuries (Jeremiah Moon, Jabari Zuniga, Brett Heggie) and Chris Bleich’s entry into the transfer portal, true freshmen Ethan White and Mohamoud Diabate as well as redshirt freshman Richard Gouraige saw increased playing time on Saturday.
Mullen also talked UF’s 42-point second half and more. Here are the highlights of his press conference:
Intensity of practice this week I thought it was good, the atmosphere in the stadium and the swamp was great #Gators Coach Dan Mullen says.

“It was about making a statement to ourselves, to make sure we get our edge back. The Georgia loss was disappointing but if youre a competitor you’re still gonna want to compete and win. I’m gonna enjoy it tonight and do it all over again tomorrow.” Mullen says #Gators
