Florida State fumbles on 2nd play, Memphis takes advantage with early FG

Oh no, Florida State.

The Seminoles have had as rough a start to the 2024 season as you can possibly imagine, and it just got much worse. The Seminoles fumbled on the 2nd play of the game, which led to an early field goal for Memphis.

Roydell Williams had the ball knocked away less than a minute into the game. Here’s the play:

Florida State is now down 3-0 to a team that is championed by many as the eventual G5 representative in the College Football Playoff. The Tigers are 2-0 on the year with wins over North Alabama and Troy.

The Seminoles, however, are 0-2 after many considered them to also be contenders for the playoff. Florida State fell to Georgia Tech in Ireland before getting embarrassed by Boston College the week following. Unfortunately for Mike Norvell and Co, their season is already over as far as playoff aspirations are concerned.
