Florida State’s loss to in-state foe Miami on Saturday means the Seminoles will miss out on a bowl game a season after an Orange Bowl appearance.
The Noles’ poor season has affected them on the recruiting trail, and on Sunday, their 2025 class took a hit. Milton (Ga.) wide receiver CJ Wiley announced that he had decommitted from the program. With FSU slumping, the No. 13 wide receiver in the country and the No. 84 player overall (according to 247Sports’ composite rankings) opted to re-open his recruitment.
Wiley holds 31 reported offers. He has taken official visits to Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and USC along with Florida State. Alabama, BYU, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Miami, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Tennessee are among others on his offer sheet.
He pledged to FSU in June, but his exit now leaves the Seminoles without a known recruit from a pass-catcher in the 2025 cycle.
Wiley’s decision also means that the Seminoles have 11 players committed to a 2025 class ranked No. 48 in the country. That’s headlined by 4-star offensive tackle Solomon Thomas, the No. 2 player in the country at his position.
The Seminoles fell to Miami 36-14 on Saturday to drop to 1-7. They close out the 2024 season with games against North Carolina, Notre Dame on the road, Charleston Southern, and Florida.
