This will be the first full recruiting cycle for Kirby Smart and his staff at Georgia.

As has been the case for a while, the Bulldogs have gobs of talent within the borders of their state and also have the ability to attract top talent from outside of Georgia.

With that, here are five Class of 2017 prospects that Bulldogs fans should know about.

1. Deangelo Gibbs, CB, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson

Gibbs is a five-star prospect and one of those rare plus-sized cornerbacks (6-foot-2, 204 pounds) that is cat-quick, has hips, recovery speed and all of the attributes you want in a lock-down corner. Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio State, Auburn and others are battling the Bulldogs for this in-state talent, who is ranked as the No. 2 cornerback prospect in the 2017 cycle per 247Sports Composite rankings.

2. Nate McBride, LB, Vidalia (Ga.)

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound McBride is an animal on tape and continues the tradition of great linebacker prospects coming out of south Georgia. He currently is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker prospect in the 2017 cycle per 247Sports Composite rankings and the Bulldogs are battling Alabama for his services. Some believe he could be on the fast track to a commitment to UGA.

3. Anthony McFarland Jr., RB, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha

The 5-foot-9, 189-pound McFarland is one of the most explosive backs on the east coast and Georgia, his childhood favorite, established a ton of early momentum with him. However, Miami, Oklahoma and others have picked up steam in recent weeks. This still could end up going the Bulldogs way as there is plenty of time between now and a decision. McFarland is the top overall prospect in the state of Maryland this cycle per 247Sports Composite rankings.

4. Tony Gray, OT, Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett

The Bulldogs are in need of offensive tackles this class and Gray, a four-star prospect who is the No. 80 overall prospect in the class per 247Sports Composite rankings, is a big target. The 6-foot-4, 282-pounder is an excellent athlete for his size and has a lengthy offer list. The early buzz is that Georgia is in very good shape here.

5. Andrew Thomas, OT, Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy

Thomas is another in-state offensive tackle prospect that is highly-regarded (No. 77 overall in the class per 247Sports Composite rankings) and Georgia, as is the case with Gray, is sitting in good shape early. Alabama, Auburn and host of others also have offered Thomas, who has excellent athletic upside, early.
