Georgia got off to another slow start, but in typical Bulldog fashion, the Dawgs shook it off and rolled to another win over Georgia Tech.

Georgia overcame 2 turnovers, and had a pair of touchdowns called back by penalty as it rolled over Tech in what has become a one-sided series the last 2 decades. Georgia came in as more than a 3-touchdown favorite over its in-state rivals, and since it’s clinched the SEC East, it can now officially turn its focus back to Atlanta next week for the SEC Championship Game against the Crimson Tide.

Georgia has won 15 straight road games, the longest active streak in FBS and tied for the longest streak in FBS history. Alabama won 15 straight road games from 1970-75. UGA has also won 12 straight at Tech since a 51-48 loss in 1999.

Georgia has won the last 6 games against Georgia Tech and 19 of 22 since Brent Key’s playing days on The Flats.

It’s Georgia’s 29th straight win, the longest in SEC history.

Here are our 3 takeaways from the latest Georgia win in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate:

Georgia trails twice in 1st half

An early fumble, and a long scoring drive for Georgia Tech spelled trouble for the red and black, as Georgia fell behind 7-0 and then 10-7 in the first quarter. In fact, Georgia didn’t claim its first lead in the game until 12:40 left in the 2nd quarter.

Daijun Edwards surrendered an early fumble, but Georgia quickly made that a forgettable moment as it scored touchdowns on the next 3 drives. In fact, Georgia only punted once in the game.

Dawg depth shines again

Without Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers, Georgia again showed why it’s been dominant in recent years. It’s depth simply wears down opponents, and keeps the machine rolling.

For example, in this game, Kendall Milton had 139 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 carries through 3 quarters. That’s easily his best game of the season. In the passing game, Dominic Lovett stepped up with 5 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown through 3 quarters, one of his best games of the season as well.

Georgia Tech keeps it interesting late

Georgia Tech gave Kirby Smart just what he was looking for with a scoring drive that ended with 3:46 left in the game. Smart will have something to work on this week in the Alabama prep to keep the players focused, instead of gloating over the latest win. That gave Tech 205 rushing yards in the game after the Yellow Jackets got a 10-play, 80-yard scoring drive in 4:38 to pull within 8 points.

But Georgia restored order by keeping the ball and running out the clock.
