For the second time this season, Georgia will wear black jerseys in a game as the program announced the uniform combination ahead of the Peach Bowl matchup with Cincinnati at noon ET on Friday.

The Bulldogs last wore the black jerseys earlier this season against Mississippi State, which was the debut of qB JT Daniels, and a dominant passing performance. Before then, it was four years since the Bulldogs wore black jerseys, as they last did it against Louisiana-Lafayette in 2016, coach Kirby Smart’s first season.

Before the MSU game this year, the program tweeted (below) a hype video which featured several highlights of previous games where they wore black jerseys.

The black jersey conversation has largely been divided over age among the Georgia faithful, as younger fans and recruits prefer them, while older fans and traditionalists like the classic look.

The black jersey issue first appeared in surprise fashion against Auburn in 2007, which was a 45-20 win at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs wore the black jerseys again for Hawaii in the Jan. 1, 2008 Sugar Bowl, a 41-10 victory. The black jerseys fell somewhat out of favor after Georgia wore the black jerseys and lost to Alabama in 2008, 41-30.

Cincinnati will wear red, as the Peach Bowl has tweeted a uniform reveal for both teams.
