The Georgia Bulldogs always have a strong special teams unit and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.
Head coach Mark Richt received a commitment from All-American kicker Rodrigo Blankenship on Monday morning. His commitment was first reported by Dawgs247.com.
According to his website RodrigoBlankenship.com, Blankenship will occupy a preferred walk-on spot in 2015 and then will take a full scholarship following the 2015 season once current starting kicker Marshall Morgan graduates.
“Rodrigo will be placed on scholarship and will be scheduled to become Georgia’s next four-year kicker, following in the footsteps of Morgan and Blair Walsh,” the website says in regard to Blankenship’s commitment. “Coach Richt adheres to a policy of having only one kicking specialist at a time on scholarship, and Rodrigo’s year on walk-on status will eliminate any overlap.”
#CommitToTheG!! If you didn't catch Josh or Coach Toomer last night with the spoilers, I'm officially… http://t.co/XUvem3jXgR
