Anthony Edwards delivered another dunk for the ages on Monday night.

The Minnesota superstar started his dunk from seemingly as far out from the basket as humanly possible. Edwards dunked so forcefully over Utah’s John Collins that the defender got checked out for a concussion and was diagnosed with a head contusion.

Edwards, too, was shaken up. He could be seen checking out his hand after his monster slam. Edwards had dislocated his finger, which was popped back into place during a timeout, allowing him to return to action.

Edwards properly appreciates the moment

Edwards, who had a head-turning slam in his rookie season, called it the best dunk of his career. He’s well-aware that he pushed the limits.

“I was thinking I was gonna miss it because I wasn’t close to the rim, but somehow God willed it in for me,” Edwards told reporters after the game.

Edwards can appreciate the moment that helps him be mentioned with his idols.

“It gives me chills, man,” Edwards said. “Because like, I always dreamed of dunking on somebody like that and watching Vince Carter jump over somebody or like watching (Tracy McGrady). I always dreamed of dunking on somebody like that and that was like my favorite one of all time.”

Though Edwards is in his fourth professional season out of Georgia, he’s just 22 years old. While he took time to soak in his special moment, he also recognized that a dunk like that is more than just 2 points added to the Timberwolves’ score.

“It gives everybody energy,” Edwards said after the game. “It makes everybody want to defend, want to get stops. It makes the game more exciting.”

Edwards showed impressive energy in Minnesota’s 114-104 win over Utah, scoring 25 of his 32 points in the 2nd half to carry the T-Wolves to victory.
