Georgia fans will get a chance to see the national championship trophy up close and in person this week at Athens Walmart stores.

The trophy will be on display from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Walmart store at 4375 Lexington Road. It will also be on display from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Walmart store at 1911 Epps Bridge Parkway, CBS 46 reported. Fans will be able to get their photo taken with the same trophy that was awarded to the Dawgs.

It begins a celebratory week for Georgia faithful as the championship parade is set for Saturday.

The trophy will also visit marquee games and public events nationwide in the upcoming months.

The trophy is made from 24k gold, bronze and stainless steel. It is 36-1/2 inches tall and the gold piece is 24-1/2 inches by itself.

Every year a new trophy is made and the winning school keeps it for permanent display.

Georgia beat Alabama 33-18 on Monday in the College Football Playoff national championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It was redemption for the Dawgs who lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship in Atlanta last month, and lost to Alabama in the 2018 National Championship Game. It is the school’s first football championship since 1980.
