A lot has been made about Baker Mayfield’s antics this season, but the Oklahoma QB demonstrated class in congratulating Georgia and QB Jake Fromm following the Rose Bowl.

The game turned into an instant classic as the two teams traded blows and touchdowns down to the wire. Georgia would tie the game with under a minute remaining the fourth quarter to force OT.

In the end, the Bulldogs would come away with a victory in the second OT period. Sony Michel provided the winning touchdown and was a big star in the game, but the work of the freshman Fromm did not go unnoticed.

Fromm threw for 210 and 2 TDs without a turnover in the game, and Mayfield commented that Fromm’s ability to lead the team and earn the respect of his teammates is what stands out to him.

Spenser Davis with Sports Day shared Mayfield’s comments where he also says he encouraged Fromm to win it all on Jan. 8:

“You can tell he commands his offense and he has respect of his teammates,” Mayfield said. “For me, that’s about the greatest character trait you could have. Just told him to go win the whole thing. Got a lot of respect for him and keep working hard. For him, I think the sky’s the limit.”
