Bomani Jones has an interesting take about Georgia football’s current quarterback situation.

Per Bomani Jones’ Twitter account, he said he’d rather have Anthony Richardson as his quarterback than Stetson Bennett:

Anthony Richardson has had a difficult season so far as the starting quarterback for the Florida Gators. This year Richardson has thrown 6 interceptions to only 4 passing touchdowns with a total of 1,116 yards.

At one point, Richardson’s QBR, a measurement of a quarterback’s effectiveness, was in single digits for back to back weeks. He did improve in his match-up with the Tennessee Volunteers where he had a break out game, putting up 458 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Stetson Bennett has also had his ups and downs during the 2022 season. The first week, Bennett was able to complete 80% of his passes for 2 touchdowns and 368 yards against a ranked Oregon team. The last two games have been a different story. Against Kent State and Missouri he threw for no touchdowns and the season’s first interception despite putting up an average of 292 yards in each contest. Bennett’s QBR has been much more stable than Richardson’s with him currently ranked 10th nationally.

Both quarterbacks have shown the good and bad they can provide their team, but statistically, Bennett has been far more consistent. The film also tells the same story with some of Richardson’s interceptions being difficult to justify. Richardson’s upside is his amazing physical traits and his tremendous potential.
