Brent Key, new Georgia Tech coach, fires back at heckling from Dawg fans
Brent Key is fired up to be the head coach at Georgia Tech, and it’s easy to see based on his repeated comments about the rivalry with Georgia, better known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate.
At halftime of the men’s basketball game on Tuesday night between the 2 programs, Key told Georgia fans to “go home” after they barked at him, and otherwise heckled his speech about plans for the program.
Key opened and closed his speech with the Georgia Tech battle cry, “THWG,” better known as To Hell With Georgia.
This came a day after Key said at his first press conference that he would work every day to defeat Georgia.
“We have an opponent in this state that we will work 365 days a year to defeat … we will work 365 days a year to dominate,” Key said. “We all wake up in the morning, our goal is to dominate our opponent. The feeling of dominating your opponent is like no other. And whatever team is on our schedule, that is our goal. That is what we will work towards every single day. Players that are in here understand that. That is our goal, that is our mindset and we have an opponent in this state that is included in that. For 365 days, we will work to dominate that opponent.”
