Brock Bowers and Georgia are still waiting for further details related to the star tight end’s sprained left ankle. Kirby Smart said Saturday that MRI results are the next step after X-rays were negative on Saturday.

Chris Doering and Benjamin Watson on SEC Network Saturday night discussed the impact and scenarios depending on how Bowers’ health and injury future turns out.

For starters, they began with a worst-case scenario.

“They miss the most versatile player on the entire offense,” Watson said. “They miss a guy who’s leading the team in receptions, he’s also taking hand-offs, he’s short-yardage at fullback. He’s doing so much, but he’s also setting the tone for the offense from a physicality standpoint.”

However, Watson also pointed out that the Georgia offense has seen several players step up at different times, such as Daijun Edwards, Rara Thomas, Dominic Lovett and Dillon Bell.

“It puts more pressure on everybody else,” Watson said.

Doering recalled that last year’s key situations found Ladd McConkey as the target for Georgia.

“Targets on 3rd down, more 3rd down conversions with catches that he made, so him coming back is certainly a big part of compensating,” Doering said.

Doering also pointed out that the schedule afforded other players experience, like Mekhi Mews.

“There are other guys that are now more experienced and able to step up,” Doering said.
