Brock Bowers went down with what appeared to be a left ankle injury in the first half against Vanderbilt Saturday.

After the game, Kirby Smart gave an update on one of Georgia’s best pieces offensive pieces.

“It’s an ankle sprain, don’t know how severe,” Smart said in his postgame press conference. “X-rayed it, and the x-rays were negative. It looks like it was lower, but we don’t know yet. Until we get an MRI, we won’t know.”

Before he left in the first half, Bowers had picked up 22 yards on 4 receptions. So far this season, he has racked up 545 yards and 4 touchdowns, emerging as one of Georgia’s best targets and one of the best tight ends in the country. The Bulldogs can only hope Bowers won’t miss significant time as they prepare for a tough November slate.

The absence of Bowers didn’t hurt Georgia too much in the second half as the Bulldogs cruised to a 37-20 win over Vanderbilt.
