Carson Beck owns up to 'bad decisions' after win over Florida
Carson Beck’s long-standing streak of games without an interception now seems like more of a distant memory than anything else as the Georgia quarterback has now thrown no less than a pair of interceptions for the past three consecutive games he’s played in.
He finished out the 34-20 win over the Florida Gators in less than perfect fashion, completing 25 of his 40 passing attempts for 309 yards with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. It is his third game of the season so far with 3 picks in a singular game. The last time he had an interception-free outing was on Oct. 5 in the 31-13 win over the Auburn Tigers.
Beck took responsibility for his part in giving the ball away to the other team on Saturday, though it could be argued that the reason for this phenomenon is because he’s lacking trust in his receivers. That would make sense, considering the amount of drops that have been had this season by the supporting cast.
He said he made “two bad decisions” and elaborated on the elephant in the room.
“So I tried to make a play, scramble out, didn’t see the guy underneath. And then we don’t get the check down now, probably should go to the check down on the second one,” Beck said. “Don’t see that guy, he falls underneath the in-cut. On the third one, I get hit while I’m throwing, which I keep saying this is part of the game. And obviously, it’s really difficult to move on from that. But that’s what we do. That’s what I do.”
Beck and the Bulldogs will look to show progress and upward momentum in their College Football Playoff push, which starts up next on the schedule with a matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels.
