Carson Beck shares leadership goals for 2024 season
Carson Beck is expected to be possibly the nation’s best player in 2024, and there are a multitude of reasons why. But one thing head coach Kirby Smart has commented on is that he wants to see his signal-caller show a bit more fire on the field.
“That’s not comfortable for him. That’s just not who he is,” Smart said. “But his teammates need to see that fire and grit sometimes too.”
That’s something Beck acknowledges, and something the Georgia quarterback spoke to in a recent interview with the media.
“[I’m] just trying to be a better vocal leader. Try to be a better leader and serve my teammates, serve my guys,” Beck said. “How can I help a wide receiver? How can I help an o-lineman? How can I help a running back? How can I help somebody on the defense? That’s the biggest thing for me is not only being a leader of the offense but trying to be a leader of the entire team.”
Beck finished out the 2023 season in as best of a manner as Georgia could have hoped for in his first season as the starter with over a 72% completion rate, passing for 3,941 yards with a 24-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He also rushed for for 116 yards and 4 touchdowns.
How he continues to build upon this will be one of the hottest topics to watch when the Bulldogs get rolling against Clemson in just a matter of days.
