Two SEC alumni are at the center of some big decisions the Cincinnati Bengals have to make this spring.

As most football fans are familiar, Cincinnati has the No. 1 pick in April’s NFL Draft. Whether the Bengals will pick Joe Burrow, someone else or trade the pick depends on which “insider” you ask right now. If the team does pick Burrow, it will want to have a go-to wide receiver for the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.

Though he missed the 2019 season, former Georgia standout A.J. Green undoubtedly fits the billing of go-to, play-making wide receiver. The Bengals are facing a big question of whether they will be aggressive in bringing back Green or risk losing him in free agency. Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor indicated he expects Green to be back in 2020.

“He’s a guy we want to be around,” Taylor said on a cincinnati.com podcast this week.

“We’re still working through that process,” Taylor added. “He’s a guy that we are excited about to be a part of this team, first and foremost. That’s what matters right now. As we go through the offseason, we’ll figure out how it best fits. But right now, we expect him to be a part of the team. We want him to be a part of the team. He’s certainly been a valuable member for the last couple of years and done some great things. I’m excited to coach him really for the first time this next season.”

At least two SEC fanbases will be following Cincinnati’s moves closely. The way things are looking, we might get a Burrow-Green tandem on Sundays.
