College GameDay announces SEC destination for Week 5
As the SEC moves into its second week of action, a historic matchup will host ESPN’s “College GameDay” next week. It will be in Athens for the Auburn-Georgia game at the location of the “Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.”
The popular pregame show was last in Athens for the big Notre Dame game last season, but this time, the talk will be about Auburn knocking off Kentucky this week, while Georgia had a sloppy win at Arkansas.
Georgia’s Oct. 3 home opener against Auburn will be the earliest the Bulldogs have played Auburn in a year since 1892, when they played Feb. 20. The teams were set to meet Oct. 10 after traditionally playing mostly in November since the 1920s.
Last year, Georgia clinched the SEC East with a 21-14 victory over No. 13 Auburn.
It’s set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN.
