Could the Bulldogs be close to flipping another local prospect in the program’s 2021 recruiting cycle?

It may be a bit early for that talk but after Kirby Smart and company managed to flip local five-star quarterback Brock Vandagriff from Oklahoma, Dawg Nation has to be wondering the same thing about four-star receiver Deion Colzie after the Athens Academy standout announced his decision to decommit from Notre Dame on Friday.

“I want to take the time and thank the University of Notre Dame for trusting in me and giving me an opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career. Secondly, I want to thank God and my family for the unbelievable support in this process. This was not an easy decision, and there were lots of thoughts and prayers that went into this decision. With that being said, I will be decommitting from the University of Notre Dame and re-opening my recruitment. No interviews please!”

The 6-foot-4, 193-pound Athens native ranks as the No. 46 overall recruit in the nation and the No. 5 receiver for the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition to Colzie’s scholarship offer from Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Duke and Georgia Tech have all extended offers to the Athens Academy product.
