The Georgia Bulldogs running backs brand has been everywhere for the last few years. The climax, of course, featured both Todd Gurley and Sony Michel in the latest Super Bowl.

Unlike Nick Chubb or Michel, Elijah Holyfield elected to bypass his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. On Thursday, he received the opportunity to explain why in front of the media.

“I thought it was the best decision for me. It was hard, because I did want to come back and finish things out the right way, but I had to sit down with my parents and make a good decision for me,” Holyfield said.

“I had to look at how much could I improve at this time, or how much could I improve my stock going back to school. And I felt it would be better for me to go ahead and come out,” Holyfield continued Thursday.

“I did not want to leave them on that note. I have a lot of friends on that team, and it wasn’t the way that I wanted to go out. But I had to do what’s best for me and put everything else aside.”

The former Bulldogs back rushed 159 times for 1,018 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018, and it’ll be interesting to see where he lands in the NFL Draft.
