An SEC team could soon be adding one of the top wide receivers of 2021 to its recruiting class. Athens Academy wideout Deion Colzie shared Thursday on Twitter that he will be announcing his commitment on Sept. 28.

Colzie is listed at 6-4, 193 pounds and rated 4-stars, the No. 11 recruit in Georgia, No. 14 wide receiver and No. 84 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. Colzie, who is slated to play in the All-American Bowl postseason high school all-star game, committed to Notre Dame on Oct. 12, 2019 but backed off that pledge March 20, 2020.

In June, Colzie named a top 10 of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia.

According to a recent article by Hank South of 247Sports, five of those teams, including four from the SEC, have emerged as leaders in Colzie’s recruitment:

Colzie, a one-time Notre Dame commit from Athens, Ga., is trending to hometown UGA on the Crystal Ball, but has said Bama will be a factor in his recruitment and is in frequent contact with the staff. Colzie recently mentioned the Fighting Irish, Florida, and Tennessee as others outside of the Tide and Bulldogs in contention.
