No. 1 Georgia enters its Week 6 matchup vs. visiting No. 20 Kentucky unblemished as they aim for a historic 3-peat as national champions.

Junior quarterback Carson Beck has played solidly as the Bulldogs have propelled to 5-0. However, there’s still some critics after Georgia narrowly escaped with a 27-20 victory at Auburn last weekend.

That enraged ESPN’s Ian Fitzsimmons and Aaron Murray during a recent radio segment. The duo ripped the people that are doubting Beck.

Beck passed for 318 yards, a touchdown and an interception against Auburn.

“I know a lot of people are saying Carson Beck isn’t it. I disagree with that. That was his first road test and he went for 313,” Fitzsimmons said. “I don’t have a problem with the way he played at all.”

Murray tries to put Beck’s performance into perspective when factoring in the leeway given to others.

“He misses 1 throw down the field and everyone acts like that’s astonishing. Caleb Williams missed a post route in the 1st quarter vs. Colorado. No one’s going crazy,” Murray said. “I know Caleb Williams is a Heisman Trophy winner but even those guys miss wide open receivers. It happens. It sucks. I know it sucks. He’s been great all year.”

Fitzsimmons also refutes those claiming that Beck is being propped up by standout tight end Brock Bowers.

“Why wouldn’t you go to Brock [Bowers], he’s the best player in college football,” Fitzsimmons said.

Murray chimed in that targeting a dynamic tight end shouldn’t detract from the perception of a quarterback.

“Guess what? Patrick Mahomes relies way too much on Travis Kelce,” Murray said. “Of course, you’re going to go to a guy who’s a matchup nightmare.”

Kentucky at Georgia is slated for a 7 p.m. EST kickoff on Saturday (ESPN).
