Former Georgia offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson’s young NFL career hasn’t been anything to write home about.

The Bulldogs star was part of one of the country’s top offensive lines during his time in Athens, and he eventually ended up a 1st-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2020.

But off the field issues, including a DUI in Sept. 2020, a team rules violation 3 months later leading to a suspension, and his involvement in a police chase in January eventually led to a trade to the Dolphins on March 17.

On the field, Wilson only appeared in 1 game during his rookie season with the Titans due to several spells on the reserve/COVID list and his suspension.

Things didn’t go much better for Wilson as a Dolphin, either, as he was late for a physical and missed 2 workouts, leading to his release on March 20. Days later, he was hit with felony charges including fleeing from a police officer.

Still, Wilson received another opportunity with an NFL team as the Brooklyn, N.Y. native was signed to the practice squad of his hometown New York Giants in September. But on Tuesday, the team announced his release:

According to ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan, one reason for Wilson’s release was because “he was falling asleep in meetings with regularity”.

We’ll see what’s next for the former UGA star. But this is the latest chapter of what’s been a sad tale for the almost 23-year-old.
