Former Georgia star Mecole Hardman Jr. has come up big in key moments for the Kansas City Chiefs. But after scoring the Super Bowl-winning touchdown for the organization a season go, Hardman will not be available throughout the postseason this year.
Hardman has been battling a knee injury late in the season that sent him to IR, and he was working to try and come back this year. However, head coach Andy Reid confirmed on Wednesday that Hardman will end the year on IR.
It’s a tough setback for Hardman who does not have eye-popping stats but has been a clutch performer throughout his career in Kansas City. He has 288 receiving yards and 4 total touchdowns in his playoff career while helping the Chiefs capture 3 Super Bowl titles, including back-to-back.
Hardman has spent portions of all 6 of his NFL seasons with the Chiefs, only spending a portion of the 2023 season with the New York Jets before returning to the franchise that drafted him out of Georgia. He’s appeared in 75 career regular-season games for Kansas City with 21 touchdowns across offense and special teams.
We’ll see if Hardman can have a bounce-back performance in 2025, but he’ll be out as the Chiefs look to finalize their improbable 3-peat.
