The Georgia Bulldogs already have the nation’s No. 2 player, dual-threat QB Justin Fields, as a part of their 2018 recruiting class.

Now, though, they’re adding another quarterback as a preferred walk-on, and he comes from the Georgia High School (Alpharetta) that produced former Tennessee star QB Josh Dobbs.

As you can see below, Matthew Downing announced on Twitter that he was going to play at Georgia next season as a preferred walk-on:

Downing had scholarship offers from Montana State and Southern Illinois, but decided to stay closer to home and take the preferred walk-on role with the Bulldogs.

He’ll likely spend most of his time as a scout-team quarterback, but it wouldn’t be crazy to see him end up with a national championship ring before his time in Athens is over.
