Georgia coach Kirby Smart updated the status of several injured players during his press conference on Monday.

Smart said that junior defensive back Tyrique McGhee will not play in Saturday’s season opener against Austin Peay. McGhee has a broken bone in his foot, which he sustained during the team’s first scrimmage.

Senior wide receiver Terry Godwin is questionable for the opener. Godwin has a minor left MCL injury that he has been dealing with since the start of spring drills.

Freshman wide receivers Jayson Stanley (quadriceps injury) and Kearis Jackson (hamstring injury) are both more likely to play.

“They are really exciting,” he said. “They are really explosive football players. When they get the rock in their hands, they can make it six points real quick. James (Cook) and D-Rob (Demetris Robertson) are great people and are awesome contributions to the team.”
