When Georgia and Clemson meet to open the 2024 season, both programs will be taking home a fat paycheck whether they win or lose the game.

Last fall, Georgia and Clemson officially agreed to a three-game series, a home-and-home set for 2029 (at Clemson) and 2030 (at Georgia) but will begin the series in Atlanta in the 2024 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. Now we know how much each program is netting for the game in Atlanta.

Both Georgia and Clemson are both guaranteed at least $5.2 million, as long as they each sell 28,500 tickets to the game. This information comes via open records request, which was done by Dawg Nation.

“This will be a phenomenal matchup between two of last season’s College Football Playoff teams,” Gary Stokan, Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and president, said when the game was announced last fall. “Both Dabo and Kirby have done a superb job of elevating the Clemson and Georgia football programs and we fully expect this to be another top-ten matchup when the two teams face off in 2024 in the capital of college football.”

Georgia holds the all-time edge against Clemson with a 42-18-4 record in the series. The Bulldogs won the previous matchup in the series by a 45-21 margin in Athens back in 2014. The two met the previous season with Clemson winning 38-35 at home.
