Georgia will open up the sales of beer and seltzer to fans of age for the 2024 football season. Multiple outlets reported that athletic director Josh Brooks made the announcement during Wednesday’s Georgia Athletic Association Board of Directors meeting.

While premium seating areas at Sanford Stadium already had alcohol available, the new policy allows for general concession areas to sell beer and seltzer. The SEC lifted its alcohol sales ban in the summer of 2019.

Georgia and Auburn were the last two schools to not sell beer and seltzer at home football games. UGA has been selling the beverages at other sporting events, such as basketball, baseball and softball games. Auburn recently began beer sales at basketball games, with beer and seltzer expected to be available at AU home football games this fall.

Kirby Smart’s squad begins the 2024 season in Atlanta, facing Clemson in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 31.  UGA’s home opener will be played on Sept. 7 when Tennessee Tech visits Sanford Stadium. Other games on the 2024 schedule include Auburn (Oct. 5), Mississippi State (Oct. 12), Tennessee (Nov. 16), UMass (Nov. 23) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 30).
