Georgia fans are once again furious with offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

The Bulldogs’ offense was even worse than usual in the first half, managing just 2.6 yards per play before the break against Texas in the SEC Championship Game.

UGA gained just 9 total yards in the first quarter. The Bulldogs were a bit more productive in the second quarter, but still ended up with only 54 yards of offense before the break. UGA also went 1-for-5 on third down in the first half.

Georgia has struggled mightily at times offensively this season, and that was also true in UGA’s last matchup against Texas. The Bulldogs averaged under 4 yards per play the last time they faced Texas despite winning 30-15 on the road.

Entering this game, Georgia is averaging just 6.27 yards per play this season. That’s UGA’s worst mark in that category since the 2020 season.

Slow starts have been an unfortunate part of the Georgia experience this season. This is the 9th time during the Kirby Smart era that Georgia has gained under 4 yards per play in the first half. It’s already happened twice this season, too — in Georgia’s wins over Mississippi State and Kentucky earlier this season. UGA’s 5.7 yards per play in the first half this season is its lowest total since 2016, which was Smart’s first year at the helm.

Bobo is in his second season as Georgia’s offensive coordinator. Here’s the best of the reaction to Georgia’s slow start offensive in the SEC Championship Game:

If there’s a bright side for Georgia, it’s that this game is far from over. Despite getting out-gained by almost 200 yards in the first half, this remains a 1-possession game going into the second half.
