Georgia fans frustrated amid disappointing performance vs. Mississippi State
Georgia has another huge national test looming next week as the Bulldogs travel to Austin to take on No. 1 Texas in Week 8 action. With the game on Saturday against Mississippi State, there was a chance for Georgia to get more in rhythm heading into that game.
Kirby Smart’s team was able to get the 41-31 win against Mississippi State, but it was a sloppy performance. There were big moments as quarterback Carson Beck threw for 459 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, he also threw 2 interceptions and made decisions that would normally come from a freshman quarterback.
The defense also had some issues, as they allowed 306 yards and 3 touchdowns to Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr.
Fans voiced their frustrations on social media.

How did Mike Bobo & Carson Beck fall off this hard compared to last year's offense?

Carson Beck is getting hit way too much because his WR’s aren’t getting open. He just got hit up high and drove to the ground pretty hard while in the midst of throwing

Haven’t seen a Georgia team play this undisciplined and sloppy in the Smart era.
Not sure it’s off field culture stuff seeping onto the field, but that wouldn’t be unprecedented. But for Kirby being so good , it wouldn’t even be surprising.

Georgia threw the ball 34 times and ran it 12 times.
Predictable.

It’s been 6 games.
Georgia’s offense just isn’t elite.
And the person in charge of the offense is Mike Bobo.

Many Georgia fans have been mad at Mike Bobo when something is clearly broken with the back half of the defense.
DeBoer exposed it in the first half. Lebby made adjustments & is exposing it in the second half today.
Not great.

Hard to put into words how disgraceful this Georgia team is.
Probably the worst team since Kirby’s first year here.

Georgia went up 34-10 and thought Miss State was going to lay down and now they’ve given them life. This is bad defense

This is the least disciplined Georgia defense I’ve seen since perhaps Kirby Smart’s first season. Bad penalties at bad times, bad eye discipline in the secondary, bad tackling for most of this season.

Georgia will hit the road next week as the Bulldogs will take on No. 1 Texas in Austin. The Longhorns showed why they are the top ranked team in college football as they dominated Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. Texas won the game 34-3 behind an incredible performance by the defense.
The Longhorns held the Sooners to only 237 total yards of offense and they forced 2 turnovers. They also did a great job of getting 3rd down stops against Oklahoma, as the Sooners converted only 4-of-15 on 3rd downs.
Georgia and Texas will kick off next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be on ABC.
This is not a vintage Kirby defense and the offense is talented but inconsistent. The team has yet to pull it all together and I’m not sure they’re capable of it this season. Texas will likely beat UGA. I just hope they don’t lose anymore games but I guess we’ll see.
Georgia needed a practice dummy game like Mississippi State to find ways to open the pass game up against Texas. Hopefully Texas will watch the game and be over confident.
Carson Beck is a game manager, he can’t be a dominant QB without play action.
I told you so.
I told you so.
Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey, please pick up the house phone.
I told you so.
I will never be a “Tyler from Spartanburg”. After coming off years of watching Georgia football coached under Ray Goff, Jim Donan and Mark Richt. I appreciate everything Kirby Smart has done with Georgia football.
I think Kirby will replace Bobo after this season or Bobo will go behind the scene like Muschamp did.
How do you blame 31 points given up by our defense, multiple dropped passes by Smith and bad decisions by Beck…on Bobo? I’d really like to know…
Fact is, we do not have a natty winning caliber defense or difference making receivers on offense. 6 games in I still see the offense field distractions impeding the identity of this years team…but I am still hopeful they gel soon or we’ll be on the outside looking in…go Dawgs!
Off field ^
I told you so.
These 4 and outs on offense in the 1st half add up later. The defense is on the field too much. The more opportunities the opponent has the more they can score.
The 4 and outs do add up but how many of them are because our receivers can’t hold on to the ball or our QB forces a bad throw to a wide open target?. The bad play calls are definitely on the OC, but it just seems like to me that Bobo has more often than not dialed up the right call and the continuity malfunctions…
The opposing defenses Georgia play aren’t off balance. They know what’s coming. Bobo can’t even take advantage of defensive over pursuit. Bobo has not won a big game in his career besides 2007 Florida game. What more proof do you need that Bobo must go?
If your receiver is inexplicably going to drop the ball does balance matter?
Georgia has two losses under OC Bobo…they had 3 losses under OC Monken. In those 3 games they scored 24, 28 and 24 points. In the 2 losses under Bobo the pups scored 24 and in the latest game 34 points in spite of 519 yards along with (No frgn surprise) 3 ints and a fumble vs Bama and 3 huge drops by Arian Smith…tell me again, how is that on Bobo?
Hump, I’m not a Bobo hater, I know there are a lot of haters out there, but just comparing what Monken did vs Bobo doesn’t shine a bright light on Bobo.
The slow starts were not epidemic under Monken and Monken didn’t get “out adjusted” at halftime. The offense had a edge to it when Monken was OC.
I’m not overly thrilled with the entire offensive staff (excluding McGhee.)
I wonder if Faulkner is open to a pay and league upgrade?
TDOW, this is spot on
I told you so.
Let’s look a little harder before we give Bobo the blame…Arian Smith drops early in the games mentioned have been early momentum killers. Carson Beck ints due to forced passes in the middle when the outside routes are there haven’t helped. That being said, I agree wholeheartedly that there isn’t a Dawg fan alive that wouldn’t rather have Monken than Bobo but that ship has sailed TDOW. Bobo may not be top 5 OC material but he certainly is good enough to get us too the mountain. Top 5 OCs don’t seem to last long at very many programs before they get courted away…
Will Muschamp and Fran Brown are being sorely missed!
Now this I definitely agree with 100%. I really expected Shumann to have his breakout from under Muschamp’s shadow this year, but the in-game adjustments haven’t been any where near as good as I had hoped…
