Georgia’s offense did not have a good first half against rival Florida on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs trail 13-6 at the half in Jacksonville in-part due to a lackluster offensive performance. Georgia averaged 5.9 yards per play before the break, but the Bulldogs were unable to generate much momentum.

Carson Beck had one of his worst halves of the season as he threw 2 interceptions that led directly to all 10 of Florida’s first-half points. He completed just 13-of-25 passes for 167 yards and those 2 picks. A potential third interception went through the arms of a Florida player in the final minute of the first half.

In addition to Beck, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo was the target of criticism from Georgia fans in the first half. Bobo’s offense had a passing play rate above 50% in the first half. The running game was largely inefficient at just 3.6 yards per play, but the volume of rushing attempts were still relatively low for a typical Georgia game. Star running back Trevor Etienne and true freshman Nate Frazier each had 7 carries before the break.

Another big issue for the Bulldogs in the first half was third down. Even when UGA was able to move the ball a bit, it went just 2-for-6 on third down before the break.

The stakes are high for Georgia in this game. In addition to playing a rival, the Bulldogs can not afford to pick up a second SEC loss heading into next week’s game against Ole Miss.

Here’s some of the reaction to Georgia’s offensive struggles in the first half:
