Georgia finding success on the ground, leaving everyone to question why Dawgs going pass happy
The Bulldogs did not have the kind of first half that fans were hoping for in the Rose Bowl.
Georgia is going up against Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinal, and the first half was controlled for the most part by the Sooners. Oklahoma scored 31 points and moved the ball both on the ground and in the air against the Dawgs defense.
While Georgia’s defense definitely needs to play better in the second half, there is no denying that the play selection of Georgia OC Jim Chaney has been a bit questionable. Many felt the Bulldogs would lean on their strong running game and talented backfield to control the game against the Sooners defense, but that has not been the case.
Georgia ran the ball effectively in the first half, and that makes Chaney’s decision making all the more intriguing. His playcalling has left many people shaking their heads in disbelief as to why the Bulldogs keep trying to throw the ball:

Kirby Smart should whisper into his head set to Jim Chaney, "Run it on first down until told otherwise. Or I will fire you right now."

Run the ball, run clock, score, end half.
Or pass, give the ball back to #BoomerSooner

Completion to Sony at midfield but that's short of the first down. Decision to throw on first down after the 45-yard run is/will be questioned.

Run for 45 yards. Drop back to throw….

Bielema critical of the Georgia play-calling there. “It’s crazy."
Georgia OC is Jim Chaney, who was Bielema’s OC at Arkansas from 2013-14.
